meet evo educator lorelle and co-owner sarah perrin, owners of the canada-based chalk salon & co. beaming with a team of 9 stylists, two estheticians, a salon coordinator and a bridal coordinator, clients know they’re in good hands whenever they walk through the salon door.
tell us a bit about your journey…
we both started at the same chain salon and quickly realised it we didn’t like how the industry operated. lorelle, nearly walked away from the industry entirely and went back to study. while studying, we rented a basement suite and turned it into a little salon/spa, working for ourselves and falling back in love with the industry.
in 2014, we opened our first salon with two other partners, but when that partnership didn’t work out, we started fresh. in 2019, we opened our second salon, just the two of us, 50/50 and we’ve been building chalk salon ever since.
how long have you been an evo salon?
we have been an evo salon since our basement suite days in 2011. from the second we were introduced to the brand, we fell in love. this 15 year relationship might be the longest we've both ever had.
what attracted you to evo?
the brand's refreshing take on the beauty industry. most people search for their "niche " both in life and in work - a place where we feel we belong. evo really brought that feeling of belonging to us and re-ignited our passion for the industry, encouraging us to "think outside the box " when it came to salon business.
which evo ranges do you stock in your salon?
we stock all of it!! every range, from basin to shower!
do you have a favourite range or product?
lorelle: i could list my favourite things about every range because all of it is incredible, but i think fab pro is the most unique of all the ranges because of its versatility and built-in retail support, there is just nothing like it! my favourite evo product is day of grace, i use it on every client and i go through a bottle myself at home every three weeks - it's incredible.sarah: my favourite products are day of grace and whip it good. i love to use whip it good and my main man conrad for a slicked back look!
which evo retail products are most popular with your clients?
our top salon products are fab pro custom colour maintenance conditioners, evo fabuloso colour toning products, haze and day of grace.
