salon spotlight: kohort, melbourne aus

get to know: kohort, melbourne aus

we wanted to spotlight a salon that’s been with evo for the long haul. meet kohort, previously known as billie jean hair salon, which sits pretty in richmond, melbourne.

tell us a bit about your journey

my first experience of working in a hair salon was in my local irish town, carrickmacross, when i was 12, and i’ve been doing it ever since. after years of working in various salons, i wanted to create a space that truly reflected my vision of exceptional service and community – which is how billie jean came to be.last year i decided to take a different path. opening kohort was about more than just having my own co-working business – it was about creating an environment where both my team and clients could feel comfortable, inspired, supported, and could dance to the beat of their own drum. the decision to have all the evo brands in there came from my lived experience with evo, the ethos, and the amazing products.

how long have you been an evo salon?

9 years

what attracted you to evo?

firstly, it was fab pro. it’s the coolest product ever and i recommend it to every single colour client – and other salons (even when i go back to ireland!). next, it was the business itself. the support i’ve received from haircare group and evo has always been so wonderful. loyalty goes a long way for me and i really appreciate when brands don’t forget about the little salons.

which evo ranges do you stock in your salon?

everything! including evo retail, evo fabuloso, fab pro, staino, bottle blonde, hue-verse and top drop.

do you have a favourite range or product?

it’s really hard to choose. i love bottle blonde because i get a beautiful, controlled lift and it’s so nice on the hair. i’ve tried many, many, many lighteners – and this is my fave by far. i also love shape vixen, day of grace and liquid rollers.

whip it good, liquid rollers and happy campers.

what’s your favourite evo memory?

attending an evo party at the haircare group business summit. it was so fun – i’d love to do that again someday!
